Rosacea Treatment Options

April is Rosacea Awareness Month, an initiative supported by the National Rosacea Society to improve education and reduce stigma around this chronic inflammatory skin condition.

Rosacea is a chronic condition, but it is highly manageable with appropriate treatment.

Management strategies may include:

  • Topical medications to reduce inflammation and redness

  • Oral anti-inflammatory medications for moderate to severe cases

  • Laser and light therapies to target persistent redness and visible blood vessels

  • Barrier-repair skincare to reduce irritation

  • Sun protection to prevent flares

Treatment plans are individualized based on subtype and severity. Early intervention can prevent progression, including thickening of the skin in advanced cases.

The goal of treatment is control; not perfection.
